On Work: Our Turn

The big monster finally reared it's ugly head in our direction. I guess it was only a matter of time before we'd get spotted and targeted. We're going to be 4 instead of 5 and that really sucks, especially since we're just barely in a position where there was some semblance of coverage.

So now we're a hand with one less finger... or a hand without a thumb... or whatever. Regardless, we're going to be pretty fucked for awhile. Who exactly is the ass-hat that determines how to spend a budget... where does he draw his know-how from? I can't seem to see the logic in it so I guess I'll ask and see what kind of generic, off-the-wall, "WTF?!" response comes my way. Boo. I'm not happy. I'm going to go have a couple of mojitos and call it a night. You?

On Today: Electrion Day

I'm finally done with the day.

I voted today & I feel good.

Thanks Dad, for fighting to keep that right alive &
for urging me to make my opinion count each time.

On Halloween: Some Q&A To Get Into The Spirit

CHILDHOOD

What is the first costume you remember wearing? -Casper The Friendly Ghost. It was one of those cheesy plastic apron-like costumes and masks.
What was your favorite costume?
-Vampire… any of the many years that I chose to be one. It’s a classic.
Best Halloween memory as a kid?
-Going to the haunted house at an air force base in Panama with my Mom & Dad. I would just about pee myself from fear and then an instant later I’d be laughing my ass off (once I realized I was safe.)
What was your worst Halloween memory as a kid?
-Getting my candy confiscated by my folks one year (I deserved it; I was being a little shit.)
Did you ever TP or egg a house?
-I TPed a house once and then I “dookie bagged” a few houses that year too. I don’t think I ever spent a Halloween with those friends again.
Did you steal other kids candy? -Very uncool. I did not steal candy.

ADULTHOOD

If you were a character in a horror movie, would you survive? -I doubt so. If running was required, I’d be dead.
Other than a gun, name the first murder weapon that comes to mind?
-Uhm, doy… Machete.
Would you ever be a mortician?
-No thanks. Something tells me their life is nothing like Six Feet Under.
What is something that will haunt you for the rest of your life?
-What’s eating me.
How do you feel about death and dying?
-It happens and the timing for it is always bad for someone.
Were you afraid to go in the ocean after you saw Jaws?
-Not at all. I haven’t put myself into a bear-trap neck-brace since watching SAW, though. They just don’t seem safe anymore.
Would you eat a human if your life depended on it?
-How much ketchup is in the vicinity? Actually I think I’d be dinner for everyone else if I were in that situation. I’m like a SAM’s Club portion: Family Size, baby.
What was your last nightmare?
-This one hit me while I was in the Hotel on my last work trip. The dream started with some dude coming into the hotel during the graveyard shift and killing the receptionist. He grabs a master key-card and starts going from room to room killing each resident. My dream was so detailed I “knew” the names of each of the people that were being killed various ways (axe to the sleeping face, pillow face, decapitation, so on and so on.) I was staying on the 3rd floor and I woke up when the killer hit the number 3 button on the elevator. I was FRE-UH-EAKED OUT.
Would you rather be buried alive for a night or sleep next to a dead body? -
Sleep next to a corpse.
Did you decorate your house? -Nope.
Do you still dress up for Halloween?
-This year I will. I got the Crocodile, the Snake, the blond wig and the Stingray are finally here. Can you guess who I’m going to be?
How long have you been thinking about this year's costume?
-About two weeks now.
Are you planning on attending any parties?
-Not this year.
What will you be this year? -Steve Irwin… CRIKEY!
What was your favorite costume you wore?
-My favorite so far has been Franken-Pimp. I was Frankenstein…if he were a pimp. I got Myshe to dress up as Ho-Of-Franken-Pimp. She was all hookerish with the big black & white wig… awesome.
Favorite costume someone else wore?
-Tina came as Death one year and she seriously rocked it out.
What was your funniest Halloween moment?
-Just about everything that happened the night I dressed up as Sister Mary Margarita.
If money was not an issue, what is your dream costume?
-Anything that allowed me to be shirtless and proud of it. HA!

SUPERNATURAL

Do you believe people can be possessed?
-Yes.
Do you believe in ghosts? -Yes.
Have you ever seen one?
-Can’t be sure enough to answer that one.
Would you live in a house rumored to be haunted?
-Totally. There was this huge house on a road in Panama that was said to be haunted. I wanted to spend a night there so bad.
Would you live in a house someone was murdered in? -How much is the house? How many rooms? Does it have a pool?

FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND
Murder weapon? -A Necktie.
Scary movie? -The Thing.
Halloween? -Trick Or Treat.
Vampires? -Suck.
Monster? -Werewolf.
Haunted? -Hill.

On Music: Those Damned Creepy, Groovy-Ass Swedes.

So this week iTunes decided to give away this video from Lykke Li called I'm Good, I'm Gone and I'm digging the music, don't get me wrong. The Swedish people have delivered a healthy medley of awesome ear-candy (Vincent, ABBA and Ace of Base... YES, I said Ace Of Base. Don't scoff until you've listened to the Da Capo CD which never made US release) and it seems like Lykke might be the next artist on my list. But lets just talk for a moment about this video... please watch it.
Are you done? Do you need to watch it again? Are you thirsty? Do you need a moment? Did you pee a little? Yeah. OK. SO. Join me as I point out the creepy references that I couldn't avoid no matter how hard I tried:
1- Fast Walking Dude In The Background- Ok I rememberr only 1 scary scene from the Exorcist 3 and that was the headless body power-walking, arms extended right behind a unsuspectingly doomed nurse. Can we say flashback? I'm ok now.
2- Stop Motion Old Folks- They move odd as it is. Lets not freeze frame, reverese and fast forward them unless it's to the tune of a Benny Hill song.
3- Muscular She-Men- Are they guys in one piece bikinis are they ladies with adam's apples? Regardless of how you see it, Chicks with Dicks are out this season. You may leave the runway, pack your things and go.
4- Synchronized Twins- Come play with us! Redrum... REDRUM!!!
Despite the handful of down right odd moments, I can't help but watch the video again and again and again (the music helps.)

On Movies: Hell Is Empty And All The Devils Are Here

So I'm making my regular website rounds and I come upon some yummy goodness regarding two women I love: Helen Mirren & Julie Taymor. Now who doesn't love Helen for her many phenomenal roles? (but moreso, of course, for her portrayal of Morgana in the 1981 'Excalibur')

Then there's Julie Taymor: a woman with a vision that I envy (and a list of directorial gems like Titus and Across The Universe) will be directing Shakespeare's The Tempest. So What's the hitch? Prospero is now Prospera and Helen is filling the exiled wizard's shoes. I can't wait to see what Julie and Helen have in store for all of us. With other names like Jeremy Irons, Alfred Molina and negotiations to drag Geoffrey Rush in, this is bound to be something good.
